A week ago today was the most terrified I have ever been in my life. 😱😱
I had signed up to do a Firewalk at the UPW event in London and was so scared about it I just wanted to run away. I truly believed that I had hit my capability threshold and would not be able to go through with it. I wasn’t as strong and capable as I thought I was.
I also thought that if I did manage to attempt it I would end up failing, falling and being severely burned. This would result in me having to give up teaching fitness and yoga classes. I would therefore become bankrupt, homeless, depressed and unfulfilled. Not to mention scarred for life 😫. Everyone would blame me for how how my life turned out because I was so bloody stupid for doing it in the first place!!
Talk about Catastrophic Thinking!!!
I also had a voice in my head which disguised itself as nurturing, caring and loving which told me that I had nothing to prove, I didn’t need to do anything that made me uncomfortable. No one (including myself) would think any less of me if I didn’t do it. I had a choice, I could say no!!
I knew deep down I wanted to do the firewalk 🔥🏃♀️.
Over the course of the day Tony Robbins coached me to “get in state” by using 3 methods:-
1. Changing my physiology 🙌✊🏻 – changing the way I held and moved my body had a powerful impact on my mind. Getting into my power pose told my brain that I am confident, capable and able to do anything. Also by thinking about my breath and taking it deeper and slower helped me feel calmer and less frightened.
2. My Focus – moving away from focusing on the negative “what if’s” to the positive outcomes helped to change my perception about the situation. “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”. I focused on times in my life when I was really scared and took a giant leap of faith (like when I set up my Dream Magic business 💚❤️💙) and how it always worked out amazing.
3. My Language – I stopped being a total “can’t” 😳 and started using success language. Telling myself that I could do anything that I set my mind to and that I was MC 🙌! This massively helped!!
I am ecstatic to report that I managed to “get into state” and I walked over those hot coals like I was walking over cool, wet grass baby!!! YAAASSSSSSS!! 😍😍😍
I am also more mindful of where my body, focus and language is at on a daily basis.
