This month, I hit a pretty big milestone—I turned 50! And let me tell you, it has been a month of celebrations, fun, and reflection. Turning 50 is one of those moments where you look at your life and think, how did I get here so fast? But it’s also a moment to embrace where you are, celebrate how far you’ve come, and set the tone for the years ahead.
Now, keeping it real here —big celebrations often mean late nights, a more alcohol than usual, and foods that aren’t exactly nutrient-dense. And while I’m such a huge advocate for looking after the four pillars of wellbeing—eating well, resting well, moving well, and thinking well—I also recognise that real life happens! The key is balance, and that’s exactly what I want to share with you today—how I fully embraced my celebrations while still looking after my body, mind, and soul.
Celebrating Without the Crash
I had my big birthday party on a Friday night, and it was amazing. There was dancing, laughter, and yes, a few beverages of the alcoholic kind. But - I made sure that the celebration didn’t roll on all weekend. Saturday morning, even though I was feeling a little ropey (as you do!), I was up, getting fresh air, drinking loads of water, and, of course, having my Dream Magic Superfood Powders to give my body a proper boost. The rest of the weekend was all about gentle recovery—nutrient-dense foods, rest, and hydration.
A Magical Weekend in Marrakesh
Next up was a weekend away with my husband Craig to Marrakesh. Now, Craig doesn’t drink, so I didn’t go overboard either. But early mornings and long days exploring meant I had to be really intentional about my wellbeing. That meant eating well (the hotel breakfasts were unreal!), getting plenty of steps in, squeezing in a gym session, and sneaking in a wee poolside nap when I needed it.
A Wild Weekend with the Girls
Then came another big one—my friend Nicola’s 50th birthday! Girls’ trips are always filled with laughter, late nights, and a wee bit of chaos (in the best way). And while I had an absolute blast, I knew I needed to reset the next day. So Sunday morning, it was straight into hydration mode, superfoods, and a breakfast packed with goodness—sourdough with avocado, mushrooms and poached eggs. The rest of the day was spent soaking up fresh air and, most importantly, connecting with my family for Mother’s Day. That human connection is so vital in feeling recharged.
The Key to Longevity? Balance!
Life is meant to be lived. Yes, we need to nourish our bodies, but we also need to nourish our souls—with fun, connection, and moments that make us feel alive. The key is knowing how to bounce back—how to support your body so you can enjoy the highs without feeling drained afterward.
Here’s what I focus on after a big celebration:
✅ Hydration: Water, water, and more water. Your body will thank you.
✅ Superfood Boost: My Dream Magic Superfood Powders are a non-negotiable for getting key nutrients back in.
✅ Nourishing Foods: Prioritising whole, nutrient-dense foods that support recovery.
✅ Fresh Air & Movement: Gentle movement, like a walk outside, works wonders.
✅ Rest & Sleep: Let your body fully recharge.
✅ Connection: Spend time with the people who lift you up.
So, as I step into my 50s, I’m embracing balance more than ever. Celebrations? Absolutely! But with a solid foundation that lets me keep feeling my best for years to come.
